624

This is the Linux port of it. It works with elf programs produced by tinlink.

The original author of 624 is Kim Holviala a.k.a Kimmy/PULP Productions. I only ported it under Linux, without change anything inside it.

Algorithm :

The algorithm used to compress the data is LZ77.

Warning :

• With some kernels (2.0.36 for example), the registers are not put to 0 after an execl, and the small routine added by 624 does not clear them too (for space conservation). So if your compressed programs don't work anymore, replace the file

  un624_linux.asm

  in the distribution by this one. (I could put it directly in the distribution, but the produced programs would be 4 bytes bigger, which can be a lot in some situations !) If it still does not work, contact me.

  The files given in the distribution work fine with a 2.2.12 kernel (so I guess it will with any older kernels).

624 is distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public Licence.

• fast it up, it's slow (hash tables would be my friends),
• increase the compression (ie. read theory and implement it), wooo, maybe one day, when I'll find the courage to do it.
